"We discover new things as we go by our lives each day..."
Being at the age of only 25, Nur Heliza Binti Helmi or better known as Heliza Helmi, has accomplished many things in life that includes having a Degree in Science, being a successful speaker, an intellectual businesswoman, established singer and a talented actor all in one shot.
"...if you want to achieve excellence in life, you must look for all the opportunities in all the complexities..."
Heliza's name was brought to fame after raking in the fourth place in one of the highest-rated reality singing program in Malaysia, 'Akademi Fantasia' (Cycle 5) in year 2006.
Upon climbing the ladder of success, Heliza has managed to get nominated for the Best Actress award as well as the Most Promising Actress award in the 22nd Festival Filem Malaysia in 2009 for her promising role in the hit movie Syurga Cinta, alongside co-star Awal Ashaari.
"Most importantly, (on wearing Hijab) it just came from the heart, by Allah S.W.T Himself..."
WoM: Congratulations on the continuous success on becoming a singer/actor/producer and businesswoman altogether. Was it tough for you to begin venturing into the entertainment world?

WoM: At what age did you start wearing Hijab? How did it happen?
Heliza: I've been wearing Hijab since my primary school days, well since you know, most government schools have implemented the rule for Muslim girls to wear a scarf as part of the school uniform. But it was during the matriculation days that I began to feel a sudden urge to wear Hijab permanently. I felt awkward not to wear Hijab after so many years in school being taught and encouraged to wear them, so it naturally hit me as I left my secondary school days and start my matriculation. Most importantly, it just came from the heart, by Allah S.W.T Himself, because only God decides on the destiny of His creations.
WoM: Is there anyone in particular that has inspired you to dress up as how you are dressed now?

WoM: Having a Degree in Science (Biology & Chemistry) of University Malaysia Sabah (UMS), what can you say about the importance of education for all the women out there?
Heliza: We actually have to consider the formal and informal types of education, some people may say that it is essential to have a certificate. Yes, it is true having a certificate in education is important, as getting a job nowadays require a good qualification in order to be placed in a good position and salary, but if we look at our everyday lives, each day is actually a learning step for all of us. You can have the certificate to back you up in the future, be it if your ambition is to become a singer, actor and so on, it's always better to have the education and the talent at the same time. Experience is the key, we discover new things as we go by our lives each day.
WoM: Lastly, is there any personal message or advice that you would like to share with all the young women out there in Malaysia?

Heliza: As women, we have to look after ourselves. If you look into the philosophy of the Quran, there is only one woman being mentioned in the book, her name is Mariam, and why did He mention only her name but not the others? Because Allah sees her with high gratitude. So we as the women of today, must look after ourselves, help amongst each other and use our intellects to differentiate what is right and what is wrong for us. The other principle that I've been practicing since I was 12, is about success. Be it for the women or the men, if you want to achieve excellence in life, you must look for all the opportunities in all the complexities, and not the otherwise.
