The inspiration behind Garage 51 was simple. With the influences of Melbourne’s coffee culture still lingering in their minds and their hearts, the remnants of coffees that stayed with them the most and gave them the sweetest memories were the coffees served in Melbourne’s garage coffee houses.
Fun facts about Garage 51:
- There are over 10 female staff at the coffeehouse
- There are more female visitors than male
- Most of the staff are from Sunway University
- The staff here do not have a standard uniform, only the aprons are the same
- The chairs in the coffeehouse are almost impossible to lift, they're just too heavy!
We were lucky enough to get up close and personal with the men themselves, and decided to ask them some questions that our ladies might be interested to know!
WoM: If this kind of business doesn't work out for you. What other career path do you think you will end up being in right now?
Kar Wai: I'll probably set up an internet company.
Kar Heng: Maybe something to do with advertising, a media buyer probably.
WoM: Coffee or tea?
Kar Wai & Kar Heng: Coffee!
WoM: Black or white coffee?
Kar Wai: Black. No milk!
Kar Heng: Depends on my mood actually. Haha!
WoM: Chocolate or vanilla?
Kar Wai: Definitely chocolate.
Kar Heng: Chocolate, but I love my ice-cream in vanilla!
WoM: Single or taken?
Kar Wai: Emmm.... can I be single just for Women of Malaysia? Haha!
Kar Heng: Yes, single for Women of Malaysia!
WoM: Your dream destination that you've never been to.
Kar Wai: Europe, I've never been there.
Kar Heng: USA.

Kar Wai: Cheese naan at Williams!
Kar Heng: Maggie goreng tambah bawang, tambah telur, no chilli. Haha!

TAKE NOTE! For every two months ahead of scheduled date, the owners of Garage 51 will have a food tasting session with their executive chef. They will then select the best dishes and introduce them under their "Specials" menu section every first week of the month.
